Although I’ve been very “quiet” on the Officially Writing front for a few years now, I have never stopped writing behind the scenes, but felt that I wanted to take a step back from the public & ego side of things for a while. I’m a UK-based ex-psychology grad and writer of short fiction, non-fiction articles & essays, screenplays, even short plays. Not to mention various blogs, newsletters, & creative/collaborative projects on an eclectic range of topics and under several guises.
This website’s previous incarnation was Feedback For Writers, offering advice and story analysis based on my experience & training as a short fiction writer and script reader.
Personal fiction successes include runner up in Bristol Short Story Prize MANY years ago now, short and longlistings in competitions such as Fish Short Story and the London Short Story Prize. Also, publication in, for example, print anthologies (such as the 100 Voices Anthology) plus lit mags such as The Lonely Crowd, & Short, Fast & Deadly. I do have an MA in Creative Writing, although in retrospect, and despite several of my tutors being excellent writers, and me having had several big writing successes beforehand, I’m really not sure that me, my writing and it were ever quite the ideal match.
Other than that, I’m a long-term freelance writer/transcriptionist, online course creator and several other things after nearly 20 years spent office-bound in publishing (book production) and prior to that, EFL teaching all over the world, plus moonlighting as a script reader and a short story reviewer on the side.
